The Beach

10 Kilometers from Ste Agnès there are both pebble and sand beaches. They are clean and easy to get to, have life guards,and public showers. The promenade has restaurants and cafes the whole length, so drinks and food are always available.

Walking A wonderful area for walking on well marked paths, the GR 51 passes right through the village of Ste Agnès. Why not walk to the next village of Gobio for lunch, and return by another route?

There is the vast area of the Mercantour National Park to explore behind the coast line. It is the 7th largest Park in Europe.

Riding Horses and Bikes
Horses and Bikes can be hired by the hour or day.Dennis and Sophie invite you to trail ride or have lessons on their 18 available horses in Ste Agnès. Painting and Writing Courses

We offer creative courses in the Spring for Painting and Writing. These are informal, but there are 'leaders' if you wish to ask for their advice. Participants live around the village in private accommodation, or at the Hotel St Yves. Outside trips, eg Museums in Nice, Visiting the Old Flower Market etc are part of the course.If you are interested, please use the booking form for further information.

Public Gardens

Due to the exceptional climate, there are many public Mediterranean gardens to visit, eg The Hanbury Gardens,which spill down from the villa to the sea.The Jardin des Colombieres,Jardins de la Serre de la Madone; each one having their own specialities.In Summer they are the venues for many fetes, musical soirees, art exhibitions etc.

 

 

Festivals and Fetes

Almost every month heralds a festival, eg Ste Agnès, in January, the Lady of the Snows (the patron saint of the village);February the famous Lemon Festival in Menton, the Orchid Exhibition; May the world famous Monte Carlo Rally;July sees the Lavender Festival; August Music from the Andes; classical concerts in the Chateau in Menton;Jazz in Nice and in October the Fete of Mushrooms!

Markets

Every village and town along the coast and inland have their produce markets. The very popular street market at Vingtimiglia, just across into Italy. Here you can really find the bargains! but you will have to go early, trading is brisk.Leather goods, stylish clothes,cashmere sweaters, and food are all to be found.
